What is the physiological role of α-lipoic acid, magnesium and vitamin B6?

α-Lipoic acid, also called thioctic acid, is a fatty acid physiologically produced in the body and is present in many foods, although its absorption is often compromised by food intolerances and inadequate nutritional regimes. It is one of the most powerful physiological antioxidants and, as such, helps to restore the intracellular antioxidants (e.g. glutathione). In gynecology, the antioxidant action of α-lipoic acid may be useful in counteracting the oxidative processes linked to uterine hyper-contractility.

Magnesium contributes to electrolyte balance of the organism and is involved in the process of cell division. Its proper intake contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, normal energy metabolism, normal functioning of the psychological function, and of osteoarticular, nervous and muscular systems. In particular, by acting as a calcium channel blocker, magnesium induces relaxation of uterine muscles.

Vitamin B6 (or pyridoxine) is a water-soluble vitamin that is naturally present in food of animal and vegetable origin. In the body, it is converted into pyridoxal and / or pyridoxamine that, after phosphorilation, constitutes the biologically active form, by acting as coenzymes in several metabolic reactions. Vitamin B6 contributes to normal nerve function, to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue to the normal functioning of the immune system and to normalize the hormonal and psychological function. In addition, vitamin B6 favours the transport and accumulation of magnesium within the cell, therefore providing an indirect effect on the musculature.

What are the recommendations for DAV® supplementation?

DAV® is a dietary supplement containing α-lipoic acid, magnesium and vitamin B6 useful for giving the necessary quota of the nutrients of which it is composed, in cases of reduced dietary intake or increased bodily requirements.

Thanks to the properties of its components, DAV® is proposed as an adjuvant to complement the increased need of α-lipoic acid, magnesium and vitamin B6 in situations where painful symptoms, inflammatory conditions and spasms affect the female reproductive system.

DAV® supplementation is useful for the maintenance of uterine quiescence throughout the period of pregnancy, and in all cases of increased risk of uterine activity such as invasive procedures for prenatal diagnosis (chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis, cordocentesis). Facilitates symptoms of primary dysmenorrhea, premenstrual syndrome. The dietary supplement DAV®, can be used either alone or combined with pharmacological analgesic therapies. anti-inflammatory and/or muscle relaxants.

How it is DAV® taken?

The recommended dose is 1 or 2 tablets per day, according to medical advice.

 Precautions

Dietary supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied, balanced diet, and healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Keep out of the reach of children under three years old. For the use of the product it is advisable to consult the doctor’s opinion. In rare cases, lipoic acid can give hypoglycemia. Store in a cool, dry place away from light.
