INOFOLIC®HP is a dietary supplement containing myo-Inositol, alpha- lactalbumin and folic acid useful to increase the intake of these substances in case of reduced consumption in diet or increased physiological requirement.

What is the physiological role of myo-Inositol?

Myo-Inositol is a molecule produced by our body, also present in certain foods. Its physiological role is to monitor body response to different hormones such as insulin and FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone). Insulin is the hormone which regulates sugar metabolism, and FSH stimulates the growth of follicles up to ovulation. The action of both hormones is altered in women suffering from POS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) and several clinical studies have shown that an ongoing intake of myo-inositol can be useful in normalizing metabolic and hormonal activity of these women. What is the physiological role of alpha-lactalbumin? Alpha-lactalbumin is a milk serum protein which can improve the intestinal absorption of myo-inositol. This property is essential for those “myo-inositol- resistant” individuals who fail to effectively respond to the intake of myo- inositol.

Clinical data have shown that about 35% of women suffering from PCOS have difficulties in the absorption of myo-inositol. The causes could be due to gastrointestinal diseases, microbiota alterations and chronic inflammation, problems which affect about 40% of POS women. Combined intake of alpha-lactalbumin and myo-inositol is therefore able to normalize the metabolic and hormonal activity of POS women who do not respond to myo-inositol supplement only.

What is the physiological role of Folic Acid?

Folic Acid is a B-group water-soluble vitamin. It is associated with the synthesis of DNA, RNA and proteins, and with the process of cell division and chromosome repair. It helps the normal expansion of maternal tissues during pregnancy and a deficiency of folic acid may lead to the increase in intrafollicular homocysteine, resulting in the deterioration of oocyte quality. Scientific studies have also shown that a reduced intake of folic acid is often related to fetal growth defects and to the development of neural tube defects. The supplementary intake of folic acid increases the status of maternal folate.

How to take INOFOLIC®HP

It is recommended to take one sachet twice a day between meals. In order to ensure a constant supply of inositol, it is recommended to take the two sachets with a 12-hour interval. Dissolve contents in a glass of water. Package of INOFOLIC®HP: 30 sachets.
